Ingredients
- 1 cup quick oats (1-minute)
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup salted butter
- 2 Tbsp sugar (granulated or brown)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Optional: Raisins or nuts for topping
Instructions
- Combine: Put the quick oats and milk in a large, tall microwave-safe bowl (like a glass batter bowl).
- Warning: Oats will rise while cooking, so a tall bowl is essential to prevent overflow.
- Initial Cook: Place the bowl in the microwave and cook on high for 3 minutes.
- Stir & Adjust: Take the bowl out and stir well. The oatmeal should be very moist and almost runny. If it looks too dry, add a little water to achieve that consistency.
- Final Cook: Microwave for another 2 minutes on high.
- Season: Remove carefully, add the sugar and butter, and stir until combined.
- Finish: Add the salt and serve warm.
Notes
Pro Tip: For an extra-special touch, try using brown sugar to give the oatmeal a deeper, caramelized flavor!
