Cinnamon Oatmeal Crumble - Master Cookbook Recipe # 425

This Cinnamon Oatmeal Crumble is the perfect versatile topping for any fruit dessert. With a base of hearty old-fashioned oats, buttery pecans, and warm cinnamon, it adds a rich, crunchy layer that takes plain fruit to a whole new level. It's the same signature topping used in my "No Guilt" recipes, providing that classic Southern crunch we all love.

This is recipe #425 in Tammy’s Master Cookbook.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2/3 cup All-Purpose Flour (White Lily recommended)
  • 4 Tbsp Salted Butter, sliced thin
  • 1 cup Old-Fashioned Oats
  • 3/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Finely Chopped Pecans

Instructions

  1. Combine Base: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar and all-purpose flour.
  2. Cut in Butter: Add the thinly sliced salted butter. Using a blending fork (or a regular fork), work the butter into the flour and sugar mixture until it becomes crumbly and the butter is evenly distributed.
  3. Add Texture: Stir in the old-fashioned oats, ground cinnamon, and the finely chopped pecans.
  4. Mix: Mix everything thoroughly until the oats and nuts are well-coated with the buttery sugar mixture.
  5. Bake: Spread the crumble evenly over your prepared fruit filling and bake according to the specific instructions for the dessert you are making (typically 350°F for 30 to 45 minutes).

Tammy’s Tips

This is my "go-to" topping for almost any fruit bake! The pecans really add a depth of flavor, but if you have a nut allergy, you can leave them out and add an extra 1/4 cup of oats for crunch. The real trick to a good crumble is using cold butter and a blending fork, you want distinct little crumbs, not a smooth paste. Keep this recipe handy whenever you have extra peaches, apples, or berries that need a little something special on top!
