Simple Skillet Spaghetti - Master Cookbook Recipe # 325
This is the ultimate "one-pan wonder" for busy nights! By cooking the pasta directly in the sauce, you save on cleanup and the noodles soak up all that savory tomato flavor. It's a quick, budget-friendly way to get a hearty Southern-style Italian dinner on the table.
This is recipe #325 in Tammy’s Master Cookbook.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef, browned and drained
- 1/2 lb. thin spaghetti noodles (uncooked)
- 1 can Hunt's pasta sauce
- 14 oz. can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup water (plus more if needed)
- Topping: Slices of mozzarella cheese and Kraft parmesan cheese
- Optional: 1 clove of garlic, pressed
Instructions
- Build the Sauce: In a large skillet, combine the browned ground beef, pasta sauce, diced tomatoes, and 1 cup of water. If you're using garlic, stir it in now.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a low simmer and let the flavors meld for about 10 minutes.
- Add Pasta: Add the thin spaghetti noodles to the skillet. Use your spoon to ensure they are fully submerged and covered by the sauce. If it looks a little dry, add a splash more water.
- Cook: Cover the skillet with a tight-fitting lid and continue to simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes, or until the pasta is tender.
- Melt Cheese: Once the pasta is cooked, lay the mozzarella slices over the top and sprinkle generously with Kraft parmesan. Replace the lid for a minute or two until the cheese is gooey and melted.
Notes
Tammy’s Tips "This method provides a quick way to prepare spaghetti and is cost-effective due to the lower price of canned sauce. Ensure that the pasta is fully submerged during cooking" so it cooks evenly! This one-pot method is a lifesaver when you want a home-cooked meal without the mountain of dishes.
