Ingredients

  • Prepared Fruit (Master Cookbook Recipe # 468)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Cobbler Biscuit Topping (Master Cookbook Recipe # 466)
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
  • Cobbler Cinnamon Topping (Master Cookbook Recipe # 467)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Start by preparing your fruit (such as peaches or berries) according to Master Cookbook Recipe # 468 and set it aside.
  2. Thicken: In a small bowl, add the 2 tablespoons of self-rising flour to the milk. Whisk very well until there are no lumps.
  3. Combine: Pour the milk mixture, sugar, and salt into your prepared fruit and stir until well combined.
  4. Assemble: Pour the fruit mixture into a well-greased deep pie plate or a 2-quart round casserole dish.
  5. Add Topping: Cover the fruit evenly with the Cobbler Biscuit Topping dough (Master Cookbook Recipe # 466).
  6. Butter and Spice: Pour the 1/4 cup of melted butter over the top of the dough, then sprinkle generously with the Cobbler Cinnamon Topping (Master Cookbook Recipe # 467).
  7. Bake: Place in a preheated oven at 375°F. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbly and the biscuit top is a beautiful golden brown.

Tammy’s Tips

The key to that perfect texture is the combination of the melted butter and the cinnamon topping over the biscuit dough. Make sure your casserole dish is deep enough so that the fruit juices don't bubble over in your oven. This cobbler is hearty enough to stand on its own, but it’s absolutely divine when served warm with a splash of heavy cream or a scoop of cold vanilla bean ice cream!
