Ingredients

  • 2 cups Homemade Biscuit Mix (Master Cookbook Recipe # 112) or Southern Biscuit Mix Formula L
  • Liquid Ingredient:
  • 1-1/8 cups whole buttermilk (added gradually)

Optional Liquid Ingredient

  • 2/3 cup milk or low-fat buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Mix: Place the biscuit mix in a bowl. Gradually add the buttermilk, stirring until no dry flour remains at the bottom of the bowl. The dough should be thick and slightly tacky.
  2. Knead: Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead gently for 4 to 7 turns, just enough to bring it together.
  3. Shape: Pat the dough out and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  4. Bake: Place on a baking sheet or in a skillet and bake at 500°F for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the tops are a beautiful golden brown.
  5. Versatility Tip: You can also use this rolled dough as a delicious topping for fruit cobblers!

Notes

Tammy’s Recommendation: "I have a favorite Biscuit mix brand I want to share with you. If you want to buy a biscuit mix that tastes like homemade, I recommend using Southern Biscuit Mix Formula L. This mix is absolutely delicious, and there are great recipes on the bag!"
