Bacon, Air Fryer - Master Cookbook Recipe # 4

Air frying is the absolute best way to cook thick-sliced bacon. It results in perfectly golden-brown slices that are crispy on the edges but still have that "meaty" bite, all while the excess grease drains away.

This is recipe #4 in Tammy’s Master Cookbook.

Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 slices thick-sliced bacon
  • Optional: Black pepper (for "peppered" bacon)

Instructions

  1. Arrange: Place the bacon slices side by side in the bottom of the air fryer basket. It is okay if they touch slightly, but try not to overlap them too much so they cook evenly.
  2. First Side: Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook for 6 minutes.
  3. Flip: Carefully flip each bacon slice over using tongs.
  4. Finish: Reduce the temperature to 350°F and cook for an additional 4 minutes.
  5. Drain: Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to crisp up for one minute before serving.

Notes

  • Temperature Control: Reducing the heat for the second half of the cook is the secret! If the temperature stays too high, the bacon can burn and become dry rather than golden and chewy.
  • Grease Tip: If your air fryer tends to smoke when cooking fatty foods, you can place a small piece of bread or a tablespoon of water in the bottom of the air fryer drawer (underneath the basket) to catch the drippings.
  • Thickness Matters: This recipe is specifically for thick-sliced bacon. If you are using thin or regular bacon, check it a few minutes earlier to prevent overcooking.
