Hot Dogs - Master Cookbook Recipe # 18
Air frying hot dogs gives them that perfect "grilled" taste and snap without needing to fire up the outdoor grill. Slicing the tops allows the heat to penetrate, creating those delicious crispy edges we all love.

Ingredients
- 4 beef hot dogs (such as Ball Park)
- 4 hot dog buns
- Ketchup and Mustard to serve
- Recipe #555 Cole Slaw (for topping)
- Optional: Recipe #602 Hot Dog Chili Sauce
Instructions
- Prep the Dogs: Use a knife to lightly slice the hot dogs across the top (small diagonal slits). This prevents them from bursting and helps them get a nice char.
- Air Fry: Place the hot dogs in the air fryer basket. Set the temperature to 400°F.
- Initial Cook: Cook for 6 minutes.
- Char Finish: Shake the basket to roll the hot dogs, then cook for an additional 3 minutes. This extra time gives them that beautiful charred, grilled finish.
- Warm the Buns: If you like your buns toasted, you can place them in the air fryer for the last 1 minute of cooking.
- Assemble: Place the hot dogs in the buns and top with ketchup, mustard, and plenty of Master Cookbook Recipe #555 Cole Slaw.
Notes
- The Ultimate Dog: For a true Southern experience, top these with Recipe #602: Hot Dog Chili Sauce.
- Crunch Factor: Adding the coleslaw directly onto the hot dog provides a wonderful cool crunch that contrasts perfectly with the hot, charred beef.
- Quick Clean Up: Because they are contained in the basket, there’s no grease splatter on your stove!
