Ingredients
- 2 cups self-rising flour (already contains baking powder and salt)
- 1-1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- Optional: Melted butter for brushing on top after baking.
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 450°F. For faster cooking, you can use the convection setting. Grease a 7x11 or 9x9 inch baking pan.
- Mix Dough: Place the self-rising flour in a bowl. Gradually add the heavy whipping cream, stirring with a blending fork or spoon until a thick, heavy dough forms and all the dry flour is incorporated.
- Knead & Fold: Dust your countertop with a generous amount of self-rising flour. Place the dough on the surface and sprinkle more flour on top. Gently fold the dough 6 to 7 times. This creates those beautiful layers.
- Cut Biscuits: Pat the dough out to about 3/4 to 1 inch thick. Cut out your biscuits using a cutter. For a smoother look, you can lightly roll each piece in the palm of your hand with a tiny bit of flour.
- Bake: Arrange the biscuits in the greased pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the tops and bottoms are golden brown.
- Finishing Touch: Brush the tops with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven for a beautiful finish.
- Pro Tip: To prevent the bottoms from "sweating" and getting soft, you can flip them upside down briefly after baking.
