Tater Tot Casserole - Master Cookbook Recipe # 329

This kid-pleasing dish is a staple for a reason! It’s easy to pull together and always hits the spot. If you're cooking for picky eaters, you can easily swap the cream of mushroom for cream of chicken or leave out the veggies

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 lbs Ground chuck
  • 1 Medium onion, diced
  • 1 Tbsp Dale’s Steak Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Complete seasoning (Bidia)
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 14.5 oz can Mixed vegetables, drained
  • 10.5 oz can Cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 bag Frozen tater tots
  • Olive oil (for sautéing)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Beef: In a skillet, brown the ground chuck. Once fully cooked, drain the excess fat and set the beef aside.
  2. Sauté: Add a little olive oil to the skillet and sauté the diced onion until tender.
  3. Mix the Filling: Stir in the seasonings, drained mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, and milk. Mix well until combined.
  4. Layer: In a 13x9 baking dish, spread the browned beef in an even layer. Pour the soup and vegetable mixture over the top.
  5. Add Tots: Arrange the tater tots over the top. For a professional look, stand them upright around the edges!
  6. Bake: Bake at 350°F for one hour until the tots are golden and the casserole is bubbling.

Notes

Tammy’s Tips

This is a true crowd-pleaser that you can easily customize for your family. If you have a picky eater, feel free to skip the mixed vegetables or substitute the cream of mushroom with cream of chicken soup. If you don't have Complete Seasoning on hand, you can achieve a similar flavor by using 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder.
