This homemade tartar sauce is a creamy, flavorful condiment that perfectly balances the crunch of minced onions with a hint of sweetness. Enhanced by roasted garlic and black pepper, it provides a rich, savory depth that elevates any seafood dish far beyond a basic store-bought version.

Tammy’s Tips

I always suggest using a glass bowl to keep the flavor fresh and clean, as glass won't absorb any unwanted odors or tastes. Making this a day ahead is key because it gives the ingredients time to marry, making the final sauce much more delicious. If you want a little extra "zing," feel free to add a tiny squeeze of lemon juice or swap the sweet relish for dill!
