Sweet Master Vinaigrette - Master Cookbook Recipe # 575
This Sweet Master Vinaigrette is a delightful twist on a classic dressing. By swapping red wine vinegar for apple cider vinegar and adding a touch of sugar, you get a mellow, slightly sweet flavor profile that pairs beautifully with salads containing fruit, nuts, or bitter greens. The addition of sliced garlic infuses the oil with a subtle savory depth as it sits.
This is recipe #575 in Tammy’s Master Cookbook.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 clove garlic, sliced thin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Combine: Place the extra virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar, sugar, sliced garlic, salt, and black pepper into a dressing container or a small canning jar.
- Mix: Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously until the sugar is dissolved and the ingredients are well combined.
- Infuse: Let the dressing sit for at least a few hours. This allows the garlic to infuse into the oil and vinegar, and for the flavors to meld together perfectly.
- Serve: Give the jar another good shake right before serving to re-emulsify the dressing.

Tammy's Tips
Patience is the secret ingredient here! Letting this sit for a few hours really lets that garlic work its magic. This dressing is particularly wonderful on a spinach salad with some fresh strawberries and pecans. If you like a very strong garlic flavor, you can even crush the garlic clove slightly before slicing it. Always store any leftovers in the refrigerator!
