Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (Jif brand recommended)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 to 4 Tbsp milk or cream

Instructions

  1. Cream the Butter: In a mixing bowl, cream the room-temperature salted butter until smooth.
  2. Add Flavor and Liquid: Mix in the vanilla extract, the peanut butter, and 3 tablespoons of milk or cream.
  3. Incorporate Sugar: Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating the mixture until it is smooth and reaches your desired spreading consistency. If the frosting is too thick, add the remaining tablespoon of milk.
  4. Frost the Bars: Spread the frosting evenly over your cooled Peanut Butter Bars (Master Cookbook Recipe # 353) before cutting them.
  5. Serve and Store: Cut the frosted bars into squares. Store any leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh.

Tammy’s Tips

For the best results, make sure your butter is truly at room temperature so you don't end up with lumps in your frosting. I love using Jif for that classic peanut butter flavor we all know and love. This frosting sets up beautifully, making it easy to stack the bars once they are cut!
