Old Settler's Beans - Master Cookbook Recipe # 645
This hearty, protein-packed side dish is almost a meal in itself! By combining four types of beans with savory ground beef and bacon, you get a rich, smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with your favorite Southern breads.

Ingredients
- 1/2 lb Ground beef
- 1/2 lb Bacon, chopped
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 15 oz can Pinto beans
- 15 oz can Pork n’ beans
- 15 oz can Butter beans
- 15 oz can Kidney beans
- 1/3 cup Brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Ketchup
- 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 Tbsp Mustard
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 1/2 tsp Chili powder
Instructions
- Brown and Drain: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, chopped bacon, and chopped onion together until the meat is browned and the onions are tender. Drain the excess grease well.
- Combine: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture with all four cans of beans (do not drain).
- Season: Stir in the brown sugar, ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, and chili powder. Mix well to ensure everything is evenly coated.
- Bake: Pour the mixture into an oven-safe baking dish. Bake at 350°F for 2 hours. The sauce should be bubbly and thickened.
- Serve: This is wonderful served with a side of homemade cornbread or crispy garlic toast.
