Ingredients
- Cubed steaks
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- Badia roasted garlic powder
- Cooking oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prep the Steak: Cut the cubed steaks into 1/2-inch wide strips (like French fries).
- Season: Generously season the steak strips with salt, black pepper, and the roasted garlic powder.
- Breading Station: In one shallow dish, beat the egg and buttermilk together. Place the self-rising flour in a second shallow dish.
- Dredge: Dip the steak strips into the egg mixture, then coat them thoroughly in the flour, pressing the flour firmly so it sticks to the meat.
- Rest: Let the breaded strips sit for about 5 minutes. This helps the coating stay on during frying.
- Fry: Heat about 3/4-inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high to high heat. Fry the strips for about 2 minutes per side (4 minutes total) until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce!
Notes
Tip: Make sure your oil is good and hot before adding the steak so the breading crisps up immediately rather than soaking up too much oil.
