Ingredients

  • The Citrus:
  • 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • Pulp and zest from one lemon
  • Optional: Extra lemon slices for garnish
  • The Sweetener:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • The Liquid:
  • 2 cups hot water
  • Additional cold water (to fill)

Instructions

  1. Zest: Before juicing, use a grater or zester to zest one lemon. Place that fresh zest directly into the bottom of a large pitcher or bowl.
  2. Juice: Juice your lemons until you have 3/4 cup. Pour the juice through a strainer into the pitcher with the zest, making sure to discard any seeds.
  3. Dissolve: Add the 1 cup of sugar and the 2 cups of hot water to the pitcher. Whisk well until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Assemble: Cut a few thin lemon slices and drop them into your serving pitcher for a beautiful look.
  5. Finish: Fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water and stir well.
  6. Chill: Place in the refrigerator and let it get ice-cold before serving.

Notes

Tammy’s Tip: Using the hot water to dissolve the sugar first ensures you won't have any gritty sugar at the bottom of your glass. It makes the lemonade perfectly smooth every time!
