Five Flavor Glaze - Master Cookbook Recipe # 196
The perfect companion to the Five Flavor Pound Cake, this simple boiled glaze infuses the cake with an extra punch of those five signature flavors. Pouring it over the cake while it's still hot allows the syrup to soak in, creating a beautiful shine and an irresistibly moist texture.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tsp rum extract
- 1/2 tsp butter extract
- 1/2 tsp lemon extract
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp coconut extract
Instructions
- Combine: In a small saucepan, stir together the granulated sugar, water, and all five extracts (rum, butter, lemon, vanilla, and coconut).
- Boil: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
- Thicken: Let the glaze boil for exactly 2 minutes. This ensures the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup has the right consistency.
- Glaze: While the cake is still hot (ideally right after you've removed it from the pan), slowly pour the hot glaze over the top, allowing it to run down the sides and soak in.
Notes
Tammy's Tip: For the best results, use a toothpick to poke a few small holes in the top of the cake before pouring the glaze, this helps that wonderful flavor penetrate deep into the cake!
