Chocolate Brownie Pie - Master Cookbook Recipe # 442

This Chocolate Brownie Pie is the ultimate treat for any chocolate lover, combining the chewy, fudgy texture of a classic brownie with the flaky crunch of a traditional pie crust. By pre-baking the crust, you ensure every slice has a perfect foundation for the rich, decadent cocoa filling that develops a beautiful crackly top in the oven.

This is recipe #442 in Tammy’s Master Cookbook.

Ingredients

  • 1 refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp. self-rising flour
  • 6 tbsp. Hershey’s cocoa
  • 1/3 cup salted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Place the pie crust into a 9-inch standard pie plate and crimp the edges to create a decorative border.
  3. Prick the bottom and sides of the crust with a fork to prevent air bubbles, then bake for 20 minutes or until it is golden brown.
  4. Remove the crust from the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, self-rising flour, and cocoa until well combined.
  6. Add the melted butter, eggs, salt, and vanilla to the dry ingredients, then whisk the mixture until it is completely smooth.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the pre-baked pie crust.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes, or until the filling is set.
  9. Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving with a generous dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Tammy's Tips: Make sure you don't overbake the filling; you want it to stay moist and fudgy in the center just like a perfect brownie. If you want to take it over the top, try stirring in a handful of chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter before baking for a little Southern crunch. This pie is absolutely delicious when served slightly warm, especially if you add a scoop of vanilla ice cream right next to the whipped cream!
