This is recipe #690 in Tammy’s Master Cookbook.
Ingredients
- Fresh Brussels sprouts (approx. 1 lb.)
- 3 Tbsp Salted butter
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Mrs. Dash Original Recipe seasoning to taste
Instructions
- Prep the Sprouts: Rinse your Brussels sprouts thoroughly. Trim off the woody stem ends and cut each sprout in half.
- Set up the Steamer: Place the halved sprouts into a steamer basket and set it inside a saucepan. Add enough water to the bottom of the pan to create steam, but keep the level below the basket.
- Steam: Cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a boil. Once the pot starts releasing steam, set your timer for 10 minutes.
- Toss and Season: Carefully remove the sprouts from the heat and drain any excess water. While they are still piping hot, toss them with the 3 tablespoons of salted butter.
- Final Touch: Season with salt, black pepper, and Mrs. Dash to your liking.
- Serve warm as a fresh and light side dish!
Notes
Tammy’s Tips
Make sure you don't overfill the water in your saucepan, as you want the sprouts to be cooked by the steam rather than boiled. If you like your vegetables with a bit more "snap," start checking them at the 8-minute mark to find your perfect level of tenderness. Tossing them with the butter while they are steaming hot is the secret to ensuring every sprout is perfectly coated and flavorful!
