Ingredients
- 1 large head of broccoli
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 4 Tbsp salted butter
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Prep the Broccoli: Wash the broccoli thoroughly and cut the florets off the main head into bite-sized pieces.
- Set up the Steamer: Place a steamer basket into a medium saucepan. Add 1 1/2 cups of water to the pan (ensure the water level is below the bottom of the basket).
- Layer and Season: Place half of the broccoli florets into the basket and season with salt and pepper. Add the remaining broccoli on top and season again with salt and pepper.
- Steam: Place the lid on the saucepan and bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, let it steam for exactly 4 minutes.
- Finish: Turn off the heat and carefully drain the broccoli. Toss the hot florets with the salted butter until melted and evenly coated. Serve immediately.
Notes
Tammy's Tip: To ensure your broccoli stays bright green and doesn't get mushy, be sure to set a timer and remove it from the heat as soon as those four minutes are up. If you want to switch things up for the Collard Valley Cooks family, try sprinkling on some fresh parmesan cheese or a dash of garlic powder while tossing it in that delicious melted butter!
