Ingredients
- Chuck Roast: Approximately 2.5 lbs (Tammy used two in the video for a larger crowd).
- Lipton Onion Soup Mix: 1 packet per roast.
- Optional: Black pepper to taste.
Instructions
- Prep the Crockpot: Line your slow cooker with a liner to make cleanup a breeze.
- Add the Meat: Place the chuck roast(s) into the bottom of the crockpot. No extra liquid or butter is needed, as the fat in the roast will provide plenty of juice and flavor.
- Season: Sprinkle one full packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix over the top of each roast.
- Cook:
- Cover with the lid.
- Set the slow cooker to High for 2 hours to get it up to temperature.
- Turn it down to Low and continue cooking until the meat is fork-tender and falling apart.
- Degrease (Optional): Once cooked, you can use a paper towel or spoon to soak up any excess animal fat from the top of the juices.
- Serve: Remove the meat and chop or shred it into serving-sized pieces. Discard any large chunks of fat. Pour the savory au jus from the crockpot over the meat to keep it moist and flavorful.
Notes
Tammy’s Pro-Tip
This roast is a great "make-ahead" meal! You can cook it on Saturday, let it cool, and store it in the refrigerator. Just reheat it in the oven with the juices when you're ready to serve on Sunday.
