Fun Week Away from Home!
Week 3-23-2019: Last week me and Chris went down to Pensacola to our mobile home for a week of relaxation and fishing! Don’t worry though we did find some time to make some great Southern favorites! We love to fish and we had a really good week so we will probably have a fish cooking video in the future! You will not believe it but when I got down to the trailer all my make-up was gone! I had to go to the store to get all new make-up. So, we had a little shopping to do to. We always try to cook at home while we are in Florida to save money so there was some grocery shopping to do too. We go to Winn Dixie and Greer’s when we are in Florida.
I also cooked up a big breakfast one morning that I posted live on Facebook. We had bacon, eggs, grits and biscuits. It is so relaxing to get up late and have plenty of time to enjoy yourself and cook and eat! https://youtu.be/eDpLwNfPJ5w
On CVC I posted one of my personal and family favorites, my Granny Lucile Benefield’s biscuit bread pudding. It is made with day old homemade buttermilk biscuits. Granny live on a farm in Collard Valley and we lived nearby. She would make a big pan of biscuits and cornbread every day and I grew up watching her work in her kitchen. It is one of my best childhood memories! She made a very simple and delicious bread pudding and I have the recipe! I add a couple of spices that she did not use. She used milk, brown sugar and regular sugar, eggs, butter and vanilla! I add the cinnamon and nutmeg to mine! Make sure to let it sit and soak for a while before you bake it and it will come out crusty on the top and moist on the inside! What a wonderful treat!

I got some of the new Russian tips for decorating cakes. The jury is still out on those since I have not really used them much yet. I got May and Amy in the kitchen with me and we played a little with cupcakes. They have never piped decorators icing before so I let them try with the Russian tips and with some regular Wilton tips that I had. May and Amy both really made some pretty cupcakes and they learned how to make a piping bag with parchment paper. They both have the potential for being good decorators! I also posted a video on making flowers like roses, English roses and drop flowers. Look on Cake Lessons to find that video! We had such a good time and they learned how easy it can be to make beautiful decorations! https://youtu.be/mIUDaJW4bJM
Earlier in the week we did a little more experimenting with the Cosori Airfryer and made a homemade peach cobbler that me and Chris loved. Several viewers have tried it out in their air fryers and they sent us some pictures and let us know that they loved it. We like to get that kind of feedback. There is nothing better than a viewer on social media letting us know they tried a recipe and loved it! We want people to get in the kitchen and cook like mama did! https://youtu.be/cbDHJT76hMI
